LET'S SAVE PLANET BLUE
The ocean is home to an abundance of life, biodiversity, and a vital source for the planet's well-being. But it's choking in plastic waste and threatening the ambiance of marine life, disrupting ecosystems and biodiversity, and if left uncollected it eventually breaks up into microplastics with potential health risks for nature and society. We need all hands on deck and immediate actions to break the plastic wave.
THAT'S WHY WE ARE TAKING ACTION
Since our founding in 2018, it has always been important to us to contribute to the circular economy in whatever small way we can. Especially since our sunglasses are made of plastic. By partnering with ReSea Project, we're committed to solving the problem of ocean plastic pollution. To solve this pressing environmental issue we need accountability and immediate action. By supporting MessyWeekend you are part of our mission to protect the heart of our planet.
Every pair of MessyWeekend sunglasses or goggles sold facilitates the cleanup of the equivalent of 100 plastic straws from our oceans

Local acts with global impact
In a matter of decades, plastic pollution in Indonesia has exploded, and the country is now amongst the world’s largest contributors to ocean plastic pollution. By being part of cleaning the oceans and stopping plastic from entering the oceans in Indonesia, it benefits to the global efforts of putting an end to the ocean plastic crisis. The ocean is the one thing that connects us all. By taking concerned and immediate action in places with the largest emissions into the world's oceans, our local acts has a global impact. IMPROVING PEOPLE'S LIVES
The cleanup efforts are carried out by local communities near rivers and coastal areas, such as local fishermen, affected by low-income and plastic mismanagement. Including local communities helps raise awareness of proper waste handling, it creates decent work and economic growth in the local communities, and it significantly helps improve the living conditions of the cleanup team and their families - giving broader access to better living standards, more nourishing foods, and effective medical care.
Your support of Messy Weekend and our partnership with ReSea Project contributes to better living conditions for the cleanup team and their families. The weighted monthly average wage per collector is more than 75% higher than the set minimum wage in Jakarta*
